Maiden Voyage

The New York Times is running another story on the plight of the wealthy in getting into college.

Things that NYTimes does:

1. Focus on the troubling nature of girls needing to look "effortlessly hot" while focusing on what are probably the four "hottest" girls at the school.

2. Taking pictures of "hot" girls multiple times.

3. Illustrate that one of the girls has made the "sacrifice" not to take an SAT prep course because of the correlation between income and SAT scores.

4. Reveal that it's ok for girls not to have boyfriends.

5. Reveal that one of the girl's favorite shows is Grey's Anatomy.

Statements like "The amazing boys say they admire girls like Esther and Colby" occur as well.

Something about true religion jeans.

And cute lingerie.

Most institutions in society are designed to self-perpetuate.

I don't think any of these girls will have a problem getting into a "name" college.
